Obituary for Andrew Fung

Andrew (Andy) Fung passed away suddenly on January 3rd, 2017 while traveling on a business trip. Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberley, siblings, Robert (Bob), and Cynthia (Cindy), sisters-in-law, Joanne and Loretta, niece, Samantha, nephew, Noah, parents, Hugo and Eve, parents-in-law, Kurt and Adeline, and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Andy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and relocated to Kentucky, then to Florida with his wife Kim to pursue their careers. His travels took him all over the world and he made countless special friends, many of whom Andy considered family, throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and China. Andy was an avid runner who ran numerous marathons. Never one to shy away from the action, Andy’s other interests included martial arts, skydiving and motorcycles, often to the consternation of his mother. He also possessed an adventurous and mischievous spirit, and he relished any activity that involved explosions, fire or heavy objects being hurled into the air. Unbeknownst to most, Andy was also the world’s foremost authority on all things Star Trek and he possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject. While watching any Star Trek episode, he could simultaneously recite the dialogue (whether you wanted him to or not). Andy was a skilled story-teller and often engaged his audience with exciting tales of his many life adventures. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his niece and nephew who loved their Uncle Andy dearly. A day with Uncle Andy was a day well spent.

Andy worked tirelessly as the Chief Operating Officer of Bus and Coach America and was a well known and respected member of the vehicle manufacturing industry.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the University of Manitoba, Andrew Fung Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund will benefit deserving engineering students, enabling future conquests of engineering challenges, the pursuit of which was one of Andy's greatest gifts and passions.
