Obituary for Gayle Cone

Loraine “Gayle” Quigley Cone, 69, of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017, in Windermere, Florida at her family friend’s home with her family and friends by her side.

Gayle was born on October 28, 1947 in Orlando, Florida, the oldest daughter of the late Marvin and Catherine Quigley of Winter Garden, Florida.

She is survived by her two children, Charmon Cone Shuford (Tal) of Orlando, FL and Colin Michael Cone (Tina) of Saint Augustine, FL; five grandchildren, Wyatt Shuford, Carson Shuford and the late Talmage Shuford, Tanner Cone, Riley-Gayl Cone, two step-grandchildren, Leah Lewis and Tyler Simpson; five siblings, Kay Quigley of Winter Garden, FL, Sharon Cole of Winter Garden, FL, Susie Simmons of Groveland, FL, Daniel Quigley (Mary) of Webster, FL, Marcia Martin of Oakland, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former husband Dennis Cone (Laura).

Gayle grew up in Winter Garden and went to Lakeview High School where she was a cheerleader. She was also on the Valentine Court and Christmas Court and was elected Homecoming Queen. She was voted Most Popular and Friendliest by her classmates in her senior year. Upon graduation from high school she received the Rotary Club scholarship for her academic studies. She received her AS degree in dental hygiene from Palm Beach State College in 1967 and was a member of the Thi Del Sorority. She began her career as a dental hygienist in Pine Hills and later practiced in Orlando for 50 years. She was a member of Orlando Community Church. She enjoyed her daily devotions, spending time with family and friends, and was a fan of watching sports especially the Orlando Magic and the Florida State Seminoles.

Gayle was a beautiful woman both inside and out. She was a woman of God who loved the Lord, her family and friends, her OCC church family, her co-workers and patients. Most of all she loved unconditionally. She was a compassionate and precious daughter, mother, grandmother (Mimi), sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She was brave, courageous and strong even to the very end never wavering in her faith in her Savior. She inspired so many with the sharing of her devotionals as she fought her battle. We will greatly miss her smiling face, her gentle hugs, and the joy that she brought to so many until that day when we are reunited with her in Heaven.
