Frieda Marie Noon, 82, of Bellevue, Nebraska, Grafton, Wisconsin and Winter Garden, Florida, passed away peacefully after a difficult battle with cancer on Monday, October 16, 2017 in her home, with loving family by her side.
Frieda was born on March 29, 1935 on her family farm in Tishomingo, Johnston County, Oklahoma, the daughter of the W.B. Allen and Elsie (Brewer) Allen. Frieda and her loving husband, Milford L. (“Mel”) Noon, Jr., were married July 17, 1954 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Durant, Oklahoma. Frieda was widowed when Mel died in 2002 after 48 years of marriage.
Frieda is survived by four loving children: Timothy (Ingrid Bakke) Noon of Seattle, WA; Peter (Lisa) Noon of Mechanicsville, VA; April (Rick) Billings of Winter Garden, FL; and Angie (Jack) Lee of Cedarburg, WI; ten grandchildren, Andrea (Edgar) Ramirez, Vicki (Dominick) Amendum, Cameron (Danielle) Noon, Kelly Noon, Alec Billings, Nick Billings, Derrick Billings, Jack (Amber) Lee, Rachel (Kyle) Lee Kmiec, and Katie Lee; and four great-grandchildren, Leila Ramirez, Indiana Ramirez, Marco Amendum and Tori Noon.
Frieda is further survived by nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, other family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Frieda was predeceased by her three brothers, Edjuel Allen, Farrell Allen and William Allen.
Frieda was raised on family farms in Oklahoma and Arizona. After high school graduation in 1952 in Nogales, AZ where Frieda met Mel, she joined her husband in 30 years of honorable service in the U.S. Air Force, living in Guam, the Philippines and various bases in the U.S. including their final assignment to Offutt AFB in Bellevue, NE. On many occasions, Frieda served as both mother and father to the four children while Mel was deployed without the family. After Mel’s retirement from the Air Force in 1982, they lived for 10 years in Alexandria, VA working for General Electric.
After retiring the second time in 1992, Frieda and Mel moved back to Bellevue, NE where they enjoyed traveling to visit children, grandchildren and friends, working on their house and beautiful gardens, and being snow birds in Green Valley, Arizona. Frieda continued to enjoy summers in Nebraska and winters in Arizona for ten years following Mel’s death, then moved in 2012 to Grafton, WI to live closer to her daughter, Angie. In 2015, Frieda sold her winter home in Arizona to relocate to Winter Garden, FL and live closer to her daughter, April.
Frieda had varied interests and adventures in life which included earning her pilots license while living in the Philippines, learning to be an accomplished artist and painter, and being certified as a Master Gardner. Frieda enjoyed playing Mahjong, decorating, sewing, quilting, antiquing, and participating in the Women in the Word Bible study at Alliance Bible Church in Wisconsin.
