Life Story for Dennis Klodt

Dennis Klodt
Dennis Francis Klodt was the oldest son of the late Oscar and Mildred Klodt of Mogadore, Ohio. He leaves three brothers and was preceeded in death by his sister, Jeanne Louise.

After an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1973, he attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and graduated with a business degree. He began a lifetime career in the insurance industry having obtained his Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) degree in 1980. A major highlight of his insurance career was being asked to act as Citizen Ambassador of the United States to Russia in 1996.

Dennis volunteered and was on the board of several organizations, both civic and political, including the All American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio and the Akron Tea Party. He was also a member of S.C.O.R.E. He received the Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow award for his contributions and leadership.

Outside of work, Dennis enjoyed cooking gourmet meals on holidays or any days for his wife and family; fishing with his brothers and friends; hunting, and any competitive sport, but his passion was the game of golf. And he realized his dream to golf at St Andrews Old Course on his 40th birthday! He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, and " Football Dennis" as his friends called him, never missed a game even traveling to London to watch them play!

But Dennis reserved a special place in his heart for his "bride" of 39 years and best friend, Roberta. They traveled the world together and he has left her with wonderful memories of their lives together and with family and friends.

One of the promises he made to her was to move to The Villages, Florida after retirement where they spent time every year for vacation. Here Dennis could golf as many rounds as he wanted, go to the pool to do his laps and drive around in a golf cart or his corvette with his wife and their favorite companion, Maggie Mae.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Roberta, brothers, Patrick (Becky), Daniel (Kathy) and Gregory, daughter, Susannah, son, Andrew (Christine) along with his grandson's David and Wyatt, and granddaughter's Nina and Jillian; many cousins and friends.

Dennis will always be remembered by those who knew him for his wonderful sense of humor and witty remarks, generous spirit and his love for his family and friends.
