Richard Ernest Daly’s Obituary

Richard Ernest Daly, 92 passed away peacefully in his sleep at 8am on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Health Central Park Nursing Home.

Ricard was born December 28, 1926, in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. He was raised by Julia Sealy and John Daly. In April 1969, he was wed to Carmen Rita Daly for 48 years and they both lived in Guyana until 1974 when they moved to New York, and then spent their last days in Florida.

In Guyana, Richard worked as a security guard and he also was a welterweight boxer. As a hobby, he enjoyed playing dominoes with friends. After arriving in New York, Richard worked at Chock Full o’Nuts, Coffee Plant, until he eventually retired. At the time he was passed the retirement age, but he loved his job so much that he continued until they eventually closed down. After he retired he continued to play his dominoes on the weekends with friends and he watched boxing and wrestling on television for entertainment. Additionally, he would go to Madison Square Garden, to watch live wrestling, and he would take his family with him.

In March of 2017, due to his failing health and inability to independently care for himself, he was relocated to Orlando, Florida to live with his daughter Idalia, his wife Carmen, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His great grandchildren Leah and William would take Richard and Carmen on walks and take the two to Disney to have a good time to make new memories. Richard and Carmen lived together until Carmen eventually passed away the same year. Richard then continued to live with Idalia until he ended up getting sick and went to Health Central Park Nursing home. Idalia made sure to go and visit him everyday. Even though he was at the nursing home, Richard still made sure to play his dominoes whenever he could. Also, right there at the nursing home is where he decided to give his life to Christ.

Richard leaves to mourn his five children Idalia, Roxanne, Jacqueline, Claudette, and Keith. His two living sisters Winnie and Connie. His three nieces Ingrid, Donna, Evelyn, and his nephew Leyland. His four grandchildren and his four great grandchildren.
