Obituary for Larry Clifton Hazlett

It is with great sadness that the family of Larry C. Hazlett announce his passing.

A former resident of Tampa, FL, Larry passed away on August 16, 2019, at Brookdale Wekiwa Springs in Apopka, FL at the age of 69 years.

Larry was born on October 24, 1949, in Huntington, West Virginia to parents Clifton and Emma Jean Hazlett.

From childhood on, Larry always enjoyed working with his hands. Whether on a car, a house, or in the yard, he was always designing, creating or fixing something, even if it wasn’t broken.

During his early 20s he served as a crane operator in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Shortly after returning in the early 1970s, he moved to Tampa, FL where he began working for the VA hospital as a transporter. He studied electronics and was hired by Nortel Networks where he worked until taking early retirement. Not wanting to remain idle, he worked as a part-time delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts.

In March of 1999, he moved to Land O Lakes, FL. While living in Land O Lakes he met Anne Stratton, who would be his companion for over 10 years until her death in August of 2014. He always enjoyed spending time with Anne, her children, and grandchildren.

Larry will be fondly remembered by his son, Joel Hazlett (Joanne); former wife, Kathleen Hazlett; his loving sisters, Shirlee Kizzee (Patrick) and Brenda Carrico; step-sisters, Sue Ferguson (Chuck) and Stella Clark (Ronnie); and many cousins including closest cousin, Wendell Fannin.
