Obituary for John J Maguire

Master Sargent John Joseph Maguire, 94, died peacefully in Clermont, FL on May, 19. 2020. He was born on September 21, 1925 in Ithaca, New York to George and Ruth Hyland Maguire. He lost both his brothers, Leo and George, early in life.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the armed forces and started his 33 years of service. He served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam before retiring in 1973 as a decorated veteran at Macdill Airforce Base as part of Strike Command. John owned a couple of his own businesses after retirement but would say the military was the best job he had.

Master Sargent Maguire was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a loving husband and father. He met Fumi Ohsato while stationed in Japan in 1957 and were married in 1960 enjoying 60 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Fumi “Bobbie”, daughter, Johnna, son, Francis, and his 4 grandchildren, Shane, Logan, Kevin, and Kristen.

A military funeral will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
