Obituary for Voicu Mondoc

Winter Garden-Voicu Mondoc, 39, died from complications after a two year heroic fight with
stage 4 colon cancer on July 3rd, 2020, at ORMC Cancer Center in Orlando FL. He was born
in Dumbravita, Romania just outside of Brasov on June 27, 1981, the son of Voicu and Lenuta
Mondoc. After graduating high school and taking some college courses in Romania he

immigrated to the United States in 2006. He found employment at Walgreens and was a well-
liked, hard working jovial and faithfully employee with them until 2017 when he joined CVS to

take on a general manager’s position until his illness forced him to step down. While working
at Walgreens he befriended pharmacy manager Dennis Pustinger whom became a mentor and
father figure to him. It was through his relationship with Dennis that Voicu came to know Jesus
Christ as his personal savior. During this time he also chanced upon a pretty young lady
named Irina Surdu whom was also an immigrant selling perfume from a kiosk at the mall. She
was from Serpeni, Moldova a small Romanian country and they shared the same native
language and customs. That relationship started on a dare from one of Voicu’s fellow
employees and blossomed into his greatest love. They soon married and had a son David and
started to pursue the American Dream of owning their own home. Voicu was a loving husband
a dedicated father and a dear friend to just about everyone he met. He was quick with a smile
and loved to laugh at all of life’s humor through the good times and the bad. Voicu loved to
play soccer whenever he had free time and was an avid fan of the Steaua Bucharest Soccer
Club.
