Obituary for Jane Ann Giaco (Wiest)

Jane Ann Giaco, 65, of Orlando, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Born in Evanston, IL, Jane spent her earliest years in the north Chicago suburb of Glenview, before moving to Albuquerque, NM as a teenager where she fell in love with the rugged majestic landscape and rich native history of the area and graduated from Eldorado High School in 1974. In the summer of 1976, she embarked on what was to be a two week vacation to South Florida with her sister Janet and best friend Andrea - and never left!

Jane settled in North Miami Beach, became Mom in 1980, Aunt Jane in 1981, and spent most of her adult life in the medical field, first as a talented medical assistant in Miami Shores - where she was known as Dr. Jane and later as a skilled medical coder for Florida Hospital (now AdventHealth) after moving to Orlando in 1997. A devoted mother to Matthew, Aunt Jane, as she was beloved and known to most everyone else, absolutely loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling to places where she could escape heat and hurricanes, especially her favorite higher elevation scenic mountain retreats in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona, and New Mexico - The Land of Enchantment - which was especially close to her heart.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Dominick Giaco (John) of Phoenix, AZ, her partner of 31 years, Danny Yost, of Orlando, sister Janet Vazquez of Orlando, nephews and nieces Joey, Shawn, Orlando, David, Kurt (Schedly), Seniah, and Zeke, and many other family members and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased in death by her parents Waldo and Charlotte (Harrison) Wiest, first husband Dominick Giaco, and beloved canine children Clay, Whitey, and Jeffi.

A celebration of life will be held outdoors at the Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando, on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 3:00 pm-5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at https://gofund.me/a0e9970a to fund a memorial tree in her honor.
