Peter Kopansky, 91, of Winter Garden, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Pete was born on May 16, 1929 in Berkshire, New York on the family farm. He was pre- deceased by his brothers Stanley, Michael, John, and Edward.

Pete was the loving husband of Donna (Bruetsch) Kopansky for 72 years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping with his family. He was frequently on the sidelines for his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

After retiring to Florida from Union Center, New York, he enjoyed playing golf with his son. On trips back north, he spent many hours helping his daughters with projects such as building fences, gates, and arbors, stone walls and steps, and anything else that needed to be done. He was also a master birdhouse builder.

In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by daughters Diane Ash and husband James of Whitefield, NH, Deb Price of Cadyville, NY, and son Kevin and wife Tenis of Orlando, FL, grandsons Josh Price and fiancée Jessica Cordes of Morrisonville, NY, Aaron Price and wife Tricia of Westfield, MA, Nathan Price and wife Julia of Scottsville, NY, Lazer Kopansky of Burnsville, MN and Dimitri Kopansky of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Kaitlin, Zachary, Kristiana, Jonathan, Luke, and Emily, sisters-in-law Carmen Kopansky of Johnson City, NY, Joyce Kopansky of Vestal, NY and many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to your favorite charity in his memory.

The last of the 'Boys'...surely will be missed by many. My memory: Hunting in Pennsylvania. He belonged to a hunting camp there. My dad (Eddie as the other brothers referred to him as) and I went hunting there one time. I would have been around 14. I remember the hunting camp as likely the perfect 'Mens' getaway for hunting. Homemade stews in the fridge (Tupperware containers certainty packed by wonderful wives), plenty of ash trays for cigarettes and those cigars that Uncle Pete always enjoyed. Seemingly every memory I have of him has him holding the cigar just outside his mouth or actually in his mouth. And of course those particular beverages they would have indulged in at night time. I just recollect that all the 'Guys' seem to be having a great time spending time together, shooting the 'Bull' rather than shooting any deer. Thanks for letting me share this memory.

Thank you. I remember "family day" at the hunting camp when they would "clean" the place up so we kids could visit. One year they forgot to take down the poster on the back of the bathroom door, can't remember if it was Marilyn or maybe Raquel :-) Yes there was always that cigar, rarely lit, usually just chewed.
