Obituary for Richard Peter Mueller

RICHARD PETER MUELLER, 88, of Winter Garden, FL, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021, at home with close family members at his side. "Dick" was born May 11, 1933, in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he grew up and attended the University of Michigan.

He earned his MBA in 1957. It was also at the U of M where he met his wife, Suzanne Smith, on a blind date. They were married in the summer of 1957. He was a medic in the U.S. Army Reserve through 1963. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend who adored his wife and cared for her dutifully through her many health challenges until her death in 2009.

Sue and Dick raised their family centrally in Fort Wayne where he was in sales in the pharmaceutical industry for an Ohio based company his entire career. Richard enjoyed tennis as a spectator or player, U of M sports, camping, fly fishing, nurturing his bird feeders and tomato plants. Sue and Dick took every opportunity to gather with friends and family, especially during their extended visits over the years to Carnelian Bay Lake Tahoe Calif., Stone Harbor, N.J. and Hilton Head Island, S.C. They loved to travel throughout North America, the Caribbean and around the world.

Before moving to Winter Garden, FL., to be closer to his children, Dick was a parishioner at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Wayne.

He is survived by his son, Michael M. (Lynn) Mueller of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Sharon L. (Mark) Renner of Ormond Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Salem Renner of Portland, Ore., Corbin (Taylor and daughter Ava) Renner of Watauga, Texas, Payton Renner of Frisco, Texas and Maci Mueller of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Carol Eman of Ann Arbor, Mich.; several nieces and nephews, and many treasured friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis F. and Viola M. Mueller; wife, Suzanne Mueller, and brother, Robert E. Mueller.

Consistent with his wishes, Richard's family and lifelong friends will have a Celebration of Life gathering in the future. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.

Dick's arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral and Cremations.
