Dr. Augusto Montalvo, 70, who resided in Windermere, FL, passed May 28, 2021. He was a physician, veteran, beloved spouse, father and grandfather.

Dr. Montalvo was born in Boquerón, a small, serene hamlet in the island of Puerto Rico, but grew up in Chicago.
He obtained his Medical Degree at Boston University School of Medicine and a Masters in Public Health at Harvard University. He was a commissioned Corp Officer in the National Health Service Corps, and later an Internist and Dermatologist.

He was most loyal and dedicated to his patients, family, and friends. There is not one individual who did not experience his genuine touch, wisdom and love. His presence will surely be missed, but his message of kindness, empathy and compassion to fellow man, woman and child will endure forever. Rest well our dearest Gus.

"In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for further research towards Myasthenia Gravis and ALS."

Dr. Montalvo's funeral arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral Home and Cremations.

Dr. Montalvo was a mentor and friend to all who knew him. We can all learn from how he loved Melba, his daughters, granddaughters and Fletcher. It will be a challenge for all of us who loved and respected him to continue walking the path he helped us to make. May God bless Doc's soul and watch over your beautiful family.

Gus, Melba and girls have been a big part of our family for years. Gus will be tremendously missed by all who knew him. We will fondly remember him and keep his memory alive for his granddaughters. Lainey was so lucky to have the time she did with Gus and he absolutely adored her the same way he adored his three daughters.

Where should I start. Doc you are such an amazing and good person. It was a great honor working with you at ADCS. I found that while you are a great physician, you are an even greater person. You never looked down on people or treated them any less than a good human being. You never allowed your educational and social status to dictate a person's worth or value. Your heart is one of gold and love for your family and friends. It's rare that a person comes into your life for a few short years but has the impact of a person you have known all your life. I will miss your dancing, teaching, and yes even making us learn all the US capitals again. Your sense of humor and humanity are memories I will hold dear. You are missed dearly and will forever live in our hearts. I will make sure Jamarre and Lainey know our arrangements for them (lol). I count it a great honor that you call me friend. Rest well my friend.

"Grief is just love with no place to go." I'm struggling articulate my thoughts into words about our best friend, Gus Montalvo. From quoting Prufrock and Neruda, salsa dancing during clinic, to teaching me how to fast pitch clementines in the office after hours. (Such a mess!) I will miss his stories about his beloved parents, sister, wife, daughters and endless cousins/friends. I miss our daily texts and his knack for telling the best eye-roll inducing Dad jokes. I will forever carry with me his gifts of empathy, humility and general love for all of mankind. I love you beyond measure, Dr. M. You are truly missed.

Aún no lo puedo creer. Me parece tan injusto.
