Obituary for Alan S. Jones
On Friday, November 12, 2021, Alan S. Jones of Winter Garden, Florida, loving husband, and father of four, passed away at age 91.

Alan was born August 28, 1930, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was the son of the late Samuel and Rose Jones and the loving husband of his dear departed wife Patricia Jones.

Alan joined the Air Force in 1948 and served until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1952. Alan graduated Purdue University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, working in various roles in Texas and Pennsylvania until 1961 when he joined the Martin Marietta Corporation in Orlando. Retiring in 1989, Alan and Patricia moved to Waynesville, NC. In 2015, they relocated to Winter Garden to be closer to family. Alan was a pilot who loved to fly, a licensed HAM radio operator, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Alan is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law: Bruce Jones of Apopka, Christopher and Cynthia Jones of Orlando, and Kevin Jones of Winter Garden; his grandchildren: Shaun and Bonnie Jones of Winter Garden, Sara Jones of Apopka, Ryan and Michele Jones of Winter Garden; his great grandchildren: Gage Jones, Maia Jones, Riley Youngs, and Xander Jones, all of Winter Garden. Alan is also survived by his sister in-law Armilda Jones and niece Jeanna Jones of Lafayette, Indiana. Alan was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia, and his son Michael Alan Jones.

Alan and Patricia were long-time parishioners of the Shady Grove Methodist Church in Waynesville, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church in Alan’s name will be appreciated.
