Obituary for Marvin Ray Lester

Marvin R. Lester, 77, passed away Friday December 10, 2021 at home in Windermere,
FL.

He was born February 8, 1944 in Detroit, MI, graduated from New Albany High School in
1959 and earned his college degree at Indiana University in 1984 with a B.S in business.
After several years of dedicated service Marvin retired from a successful career with the
Phillip Morris Company. Marvin Lester also dedicated time to serving his country in the
National Guard reserves of the United States Armed Forces.

In his final days Marvin was surrounded by family and loved ones while he spent time doing what he loved: playing cards, watching football, cracking jokes and sharing favorite memories. Many of the memories
shared were those made while he was married to his high school sweetheart for 53 years,
Brenda Kay Harper Lester.

Marvin Lester in New Albany, IN was a State Delegate, and instrumental in helping the 2003 trapshooter teams get started to compete in the nationals. As a accomplished shooting coach, Marvin was dedicated to the Amateur trapshooting association, he was the AIM director for the state of Indiana, helped with the
AIM state shoot and coached many a team over the years from Indian Creek. Marvin was the
2007 President of the Indiana Trapshooters Association, and proud for his induction into the
Indian Creek Hall of Fame, an honor well deserved. Marvin enjoyed cooking at “Camp
Lester”, traveling and really loved animals, especially his dogs. Most of all he loved spending
time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Brenda Lester, parents: Marie and Earl Lester, mother-in-law: Thelma Harper, sister: Linda Lester Paul, sister-in-law Sue Masterson Ulbik and niece: Kimberly Masterson Lavastida

He is survived by: His sister: Valerie Lester Gregory, His sister-in-law: Nancy Harper Howlett
His brother-in-laws: Gary Howlett, Joseph Masterson, Victor Sands, Tim Harper and Jeff
Harper, his11 nieces & nephews: Peter (Christie), Stephanie (Eric), Andrew (Lindsey), Lori (Steve),
Brian, Deneuve and Roman. His 6 great-grand nieces & nephews: Makenna, Baine, Harper, Henry, Charlie and Teddy.

Virtual prayer service for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 from
5pm-5:30pm CST and 6pm-6:30pm EST. Contact family for further service information.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to local animal shelters.
