Obituary for Janna V. Yost

Our sweet mother Janna Verlene Yost passed away in her sleep on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Celebration Florida. She was born on September 6, 1950 to Vernon and Josephine Reimer. She grew up in Temple City, the middle of three girls. In high school she performed in the school play “the Music Man”. She also performed for her school and later for the Los Angeles Rams as a majorette and loved to twirl her baton for her kids years later.

After high school, she enrolled in Chapman College and went on a semester at sea. She loved traveling throughout the world and had many treasures that she brought home with her. It is on this trip, while in Peru, she met her husband, George Pariona. That marriage brought forth five children and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janna loved to serve others in a medical capacity. She graduated from Chaffey College with a nursing degree and later completed her masters in psychology. She worked everywhere from the emergency room and home health in California to home health and hospice in Idaho and finally to case manager at Womack Medical Center at Fort Bragg North Carolina. It is here she met and married retired Marine, Richard Yost. They spent many happy years traveling and spending time with family and their various fur babies.

Shortly after his death and her retirement, Janna moved back to Idaho to be closer to family. She came back to Preston, where she lived to dote on her grandchildren and great grand children. She rarely missed a dance performance, sporting event, birthday, or any other special occasion. She loved her cat “Mommy” and we soon came to accept her as our fur sibling. She had many friends and kept busy with church, prayer group and knit wits. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a sister Jolyn (Chris) MacArthur of Riverside, a daughter Brenda (Tim) Christensen of Clifton Idaho, a son Ken (Leslie) Pariona of Enterprise Alabama, a son Chad (Melissa) Pariona of Blackfoot Idaho, a son John Pariona of Waterford Michigan, a son Michael Pariona of Winter Garden Florida, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Yost, her parents, a sister Vicki Moon and a daughter in law Stacey Pariona.

The family would like to thank Advent Health for the compassion and care they showed to our mother.

Services will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband GYSGT Richard Yost (retired).
