Josephine “Jo” Sheppard,

Jo was born in New York City, New York on August 19, 1925 and peacefully passed on April 30, 2022 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her parents, Epifano and Margaret Ciaccio, her husband, James “Jim” Sheppard of 55 years of marriage, her daughter, Geraldine “Geri” Buniack, as well as her siblings, Lucille Hayes, Margaret LaBarbera, Peter Ciaccio, Thomas Ciaccio, and Rosemary Imprescia. Jo is survived by her son, Gary Sheppard, her grandchildren, Christina Curtis, Erica Burton, Stephanie Buniack, Kyle Sheppard, and Kimberly Sheppard, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

While raising her two children, Jo worked as an “office nurse” and manager. Later in life, she often spoke about how much she enjoyed helping patients. Jo and Jim ended up moving to Florida, where Jo took up work as a preschool teacher. She would light up when she talked about the “little ones” and often expressed how much she loved working with them.

Jo loved to cook for her friends and family, and it brought her great joy to serve everyone all of her delicious specialties. She took great pride in her homemade sauce, which was a staple in many of her dishes. Jo was also an avid shopper, and would make friends with everyone she met. She loved to tell jokes and funny stories, and would squeal with delight when she made you laugh. Jo was the ever-youthful “life of the party”!

Jo always kept a clean and beautiful house, often adorning it with many pictures. Family was very important to her, and she would show her visitors pictures of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many others. Jo was a good listener and enjoyed long phone calls with her loved ones. She would pray faithfully for everyone. She always remembered birthdays and special occasions, and would regularly mail out cards. Her favorite color was purple, and she wore it well. Jo will always be loved and remembered by her friends and family.
