Obituary for Marjorie Lois Allen

Marjorie Lois Widdowson Allen, 87, passed into the presence of her loving Savior and Lord, Monday, November 21, 2022. She was born on February 6, 1935, to the late Harry Oliver and Myrtle Ida Widdowson. She, along with her 11 siblings grew up on their family’s farm in Penn Run, PA. She graduated from Indiana High School and married Theodore R. Allen Sr., on April 17, 1954. They were married 64 years.

Marjorie was a hardworking homemaker, well known for baking. Her beautiful voice often was heard as she sang hymns of praise. Her home was always open to host friends both past and present. Her children and grandchildren were blessed with her love and attentive care. Marjorie loved people, especially young children. Her special love of God and children led her to help in Sunday school and Child Evangelism Fellowship . As a deaconess in the church she cared for and visited women in their homes to encourage them in their faith.

She was also active in the church’s women’s group which supported missionaries worldwide and joined her husband in the Gideons International helping pass out Bibles.

As a woman of strong Christian faith she was a prayer warrior for her family and friends.

She will be missed by her children; Carol (Jesse) Smith of Newport News, VA; Linda Herritt of Norfolk, VA; Ted Jr. of Kittanning, PA; Bonnie (Don) Hobbs, of Elizabethtown, KY; and Judi (Jeff) Middleton, of Ocoee, FL.
Her memory will be cherished by her 9 grandchildren; Mark and Jason Herritt, Stephanie (Leo) Dobronski, Dien and Sarah Allen, Allison and Jessica Hobbs, Jonathan and Janelle Middleton. Marjorie is survived by brothers, Dale and Fred Widdowson, and sisters Ruby Cramer, Janet Yuninger and Iris Walter.

Marjorie is predeceased by her parents and husband and brothers, Kenneth, Wendell, and Ronald, and sisters Kathryn Polder, Ruth Ankeny, and Wilda Eberly.

Marjorie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.  Because of her firm faith in God, she continued to pray sincerely for her family and others.  Her spirits and ours were continually uplifted with the singing of hymns. Even in her illness, she loved to laugh. She shared her quick wit and smiles with visitors. Information concerning Marjorie’s Memorial / Celebration of Life service will be posted
after the new year.
