Obituary for Joanne Aluise
Joanne Marie Aluise (Ollendorf) of Winter Garden, Florida, 68, passed in her sleep after an extended illness on December 22nd, 2022. She was the unendingly adored mother of Theresa Aluise and Catherine Kershaw (Geoff), besotted grandmother of Frederick and Josephine, sister to Richard, Barbara and Christopher, and aunt to Christina, Peter, Victoria, Christopher, Amanda, Dylan and Jordan. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Gerald Ollendorf and her mother, Juanita Ollendorf.
Jo’s talents shone when she was catching an essence in her artwork, tallying numbers in complex accounting, baking delicious apple cakes and raising empathetic humans. She was generous to a fault, loved to chat up anyone in a checkout line and indulged in heckling cooking shows. She was an avid reader and shared her love of video games with her grandchildren. She was at peace with her toes in the sand and the waves crashing in her ears, regardless of the season.
When she was dealt adversity she paused, took a deep breath, maybe a drink then took a step forward and started through.
She was an unwavering, ever present source of support for her daughters, dedicatedly involved in their lives and vocal in her pride. She solved many, many problems with a cold washcloth, mug of tea and an arm tickle. She will be dearly missed every day, in so many ways by those that called her Mom, Gramma, Joanne and Momma Jo. We all wish her “sweet dreams and nite-nite,” comforted by knowing she now has peace in her rest.
