Obituary for Donald Titus Smith

Donald Titus Smith, of Kings Ridge, Clermont, FL, passed away on April 19, 2023 after a long
illness that he faced with grace and dignity.

He is survived by his wife, Genoveva, of 60 years, and their four children, Yolanda, Natalia,
Raquel, and Adolfo, as well as seven grandchildren. He was a generous and good-humored
man who loved fishing, sailing, hockey and working on old cars. He will be greatly missed by all
who knew him. He will be buried at the National Cemetery in Cape Canaveral, FL.

Donald was born in October 1933 to Titus Smith Jr, a veteran of the First World War, and
Regina Smith.

After college, he worked for Union Carbide in Manhattan. He was then called to serve in the
Army. At the end of the Korean War, he was stationed in France where he met Genoveva in
Paris. Since their first encounter, the two were smitten. Donald was sent back to the U.S.A.
shortly thereafter. They continued to stay in touch by mail for over three years. During that time,
Donald finished his service in the Army and began working for Union Carbide in Boston and
then was transferred to San Francisco. In 1961, he was called back to duty during the Cuban
Missile Crisis and was stationed in Georgia. Donald and Genoveva met again in Georgia where
he proposed to her. On August 4, 1962, they were married in Westfield, NJ.

Donald graduated from Rutgers University School of Law in NJ. He practiced law in Elizabeth, NJ for 48
years. During that time, he served as Director of Legal Services and then he went into private practice.
