Obituary for Esther Hays
Esther Pearl Hays, 88, of Winter Garden, Florida passed away on Wednesday May 31, 2023, in the comfort of her home, with her daughter Penny by her side.
Esther was born on October 7, 1934, in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Rev. James & Lucille (Sessions) Colley.
Esther was a preacher’s daughter, so she moved around the Southeast growing up. (North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
She met the love of her life and married Hayward Hays in August 1955, they were married almost 47 years when he passed away in 2002.
She worked at the Juice plant in Winter Garden for many years before going to work at Kmart where she worked for almost 20 years, until her retirement.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of God of Prophecy, with her membership being at held Ocoee Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by her only child Penny Hays, 1 brother Sam Colley and many nieces, many loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Hayward, 2- brothers John Colley and Nathan Colley, 1 sister Mary Cox.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday June 17, 2023, at 11:00 am for a celebration of Esther’s life at the Ocoee Church of God of Prophecy.
