James King Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James King on June 18, 2026, at the age of 84.

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was the kind of person who would always be there for you, no matter the time, circumstance, or need. His generosity, dependability, and unwavering love for those around him touched countless lives.

A proud Marine, James was also the first member of his family to graduate from college. He went on to build a successful 33-year career with IBM before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit by founding LunchDirect, a nationwide company that continues to operate today. Throughout his life, James was an inventor at heart, creating games and bringing new ideas to life through his creativity and imagination.

Above all else, James was a family man. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. He shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Sharon. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support.

James embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. His hobbies included traveling, antiquing, attending car shows, creating art, and reading. He also loved being on the water and continued wakeboarding until the remarkable age of 75, a testament to his adventurous spirit and zest for life.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; his son, Shawn, daughter-in-law Pam, and grandchildren Shelby, Ryan, and Lexi; and his daughters, Sh’Tarra and Patty as well as Brother-In-Law Father Patrick Ryan. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

In Heaven, James is reunited with his parents, George and Rosella King, and his sister, Barbara Ann, whom he lost when she was just one year old.

James leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, kindness, creativity, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew him.

“A life well lived leaves a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to share in it.”

James's funeral arrangements are in the caring guidance of Winter Oak Funeral Home & Cremations 1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.
