Darrel Lee Merricks, 62, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at AdventHealth Orlando.

Darrel was a beloved member of the Orlando community, graduating from Evans High School, He spent many years working for Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida as a caretaker. Born in Orlando, Florida on August 5, 1963, to Virgil & Dorothy (Johnson) Merricks.

Darrel leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 33 years Elizabeth (Allen) Merricks, daughters, Shauntay Merricks, Cassondra Allen, and Nicole Reyes (Fransico), son, Antwann Allen. grandchildren, Kimiya, Darrell, Jazmine, Braylon, Xyla, Bella, Quinteria, Qtarious. Great grandchildren Zamiah, Kingston. Parents Virgil & Dorothy Merricks, sister, Cynthia Oliver Gray, brothers, Howard Oliver (Donna), Leadis Oliver (Antte), Dexter Oliver, Jeffrey Oliver, special friends Travis Smith and Djanyel Britton, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Darrel was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Merricks Jr., grandsons, Kashmir Merricks and Qvarious McCloud, brother Michael Mitchell.

His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
