Charles William “Bill” McSwain 88, passed peacefully on July 19, 2026, at his home in Winter Garden, Florida. Born on August 16, 1937, in Petal Mississippi

After entering the Army as a young man, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he studied mathematics, engineering, and geology.

Bill focused on real estate, construction, and various other enterprises since 1960 in Mississippi, and he continued in those fields after relocating to Florida in 1989.

Together with Frances, the wife he adored, their home was filled with laughter, prayer, and the kind of companionship that only deepens with time. And sometimes controlled chaos.

Throughout his life, he was known by many names — each one reflecting a different part of his heart. To some, he was Bill. To many in the church, he was Brother Bill. To hundreds of people, he befriended and employed he was known as Billy Mack, Mr. Bill or Mr. Billy. To his children, he was Dad or Daddy. And to his grandchildren he was Poppy. All names were spoken with affection, joy, respect and deep love. Every name carried a story, a relationship, and a piece of the legacy he leaves behind.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Charles Chester McSwain; his mother, Ruby Myrtis McSwain; and his sister, Sherrill McSwain.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances; his brother, Chester Barron McSwain; and his five children: Teresa Seal of Texas (Chris), DeLisa Kearney of Florida (Frank), Greg Spradley of Florida (Martha), Charlie McSwain of Mississippi (Charla), and Jason McSwain of Florida (Meagan).

He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Brittney Mason (Michael), Lacy Spradley, Jordan Seal, Josh Seal (Ashley), Shelby Spradley Boyle (Zack), Miller McSwain (Elijah), and Morgan McSwain. And five great grandchildren: Kali, Blake, Brianna, Adrian, and Lucas.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Winter Garden Primitive Baptist Church 943 W. Story Rd. Winter Garden, FL 347897 at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. Officiating Pastor Glenn Blanchard. Burial will be private at the Winter Garden Cemetery.
