laughter, even at our own expense. He had an ingenious mind and creative gift to try and
improve old things as well as invent new ones.

Bud will always be a lover of Nature, Music and the Beach. He will be greatly missed by those
who knew him, those who met him and those who loved him, and remain in our hearts forever.

Bud, It’s taken me a week since you’ve gone to put into words my thoughts and heart for you and I am writing both to you and in memory of you.
A lot of fond memories come to mind. Our trip to Niagara Falls, Cherokee, NC and the Biltmore in Asheville where I and Jessie laughed so hard because of his inappropriate “Bud humor” which also had impeccable timing. Besides that, every moment to Bud was either a teachable moment or a laughter moment and for those memories I am forever grateful.
Uncle Buddy spending time with my kids at the Beach walking and discovering as he pointed things out to them on the sand and in the water.
Growing up, the teasing....Oh the teasing. Story has it Daniel has carried out the tradition but has grown out of it a little so as my brother, I will crown him King of Tease.

My brother, I will always remember your kind heart. Your bright smile and that smirk and look in your eye when someone said something stupid. I’ve learned by your mistakes in some cases....better to keep a straight face when needed. Lol Thank you for that! I will remember those beautiful blue eyes of hope and also your eyes of sorrow.
Your desire to be bigger than the world could offer, got the best of you and for that I am sorry. We were never meant to walk this walk alone and we all get broken sometimes.
Thank you Valerie for being by his side, thank you kids for loving him in good times and bad.
Life is a lesson, a journey and at some point a completion.
Thank you Buddy for all that you were and still are to me. You are now bigger than life and greater than anything the world can offer.

Richard Grant Padgett, whom we all called Buddy growing up. We had many adventures together growing up at Robinswood and Evans high schools. Plus working and driving together at Montgomery Wards warehouse for our 1st real jobs after graduating. We both customized Vans together we young. He was a fun guy to hang with and was like losing a brother. I have prayed for him through his fight with cancer and I am happy he suffers no more. My heart goes out to Val and family in their loss.

to me, he was my grandfather he was a kind caring and a considerate person he made all of us a giant green playground that we all will cherish as a memory my favorite one is before he got sick and he was showing us the playground and we went on the net and he lifted the net up. but I am very sad he is gone but glad that he is no longer suffering.
